Artist's statement

I am a maker and painter.

I find inspiration in familiar images and feelings, which inspire me based on color, shape, or emotion. I connect these values through abstract acrylics that are concoctions of critters, infused within vibrant Matisse-shaped habitats, garnished with Nell Walden-like lines and edges and a dash of Tim Burton.

With mixed media projects I layer new techniques such as Sashiko embroidery atop watercolor or acrylic paint combined with pour art and found objects. These experiments, range from planned trials to playful serendipity. The result reflects a mix of calculated risk and surrender.
